carelessness of the century

today i boarded the bus carrying many things (along with the fuglyexcuseofablazer to return OCS)

and happily found a seat on the top deck,
adjusted the aircon,
and started to take our my ipod when i realize something was amiss...

my hands felt relatively empty...

and then a sickening thought hit me...........





I LEFT MY LAPTOP AT THE BUS STOP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!


holey moley!
i frantically got down at the next stop
and RAN like my life depended on it for one whole bus stops worth of distance (the Exercise of the Year 2007 which i didnt get from missing choir duty last night)

THANK GOD
when i reached the bus stop at last
it was full of old people who couldnt be bothered about a laptop lying on the bench

before i could stop myself i shouted aloud, "OH THANK YOU GOD!!!!!!!!!!!"
and had to bear another embarrassing 15 mins of old people staring at me
before the darn bus came.

when i reached school and saw myself on the reflection of the lift mirror
had i realized what a SHACK i looked like.
my hair was feral-like, my shirt was crumpled
and i was still panting from the Exercise of the Year 2007.
plus my mind was still in a blank, like i had escaped death,
like i saw my life flash past me for a minute.

kinda the same way you would feel after encounter

you can take away our pride,
our appearance,
our dignity,
our handphone, wallet, bag,
you can even take away our ipods!

but never ever take away our laptops.

theres this joke that you could threaten a SMU student just by taking away his laptop.

well...i dont think its a joke anymore haha.

on the subject of laptops,
from today onwards im going to bring my battery whenever i study at our library.
yesterday the entire row of powerpoints at the 2nd floor lib (facing campus green) went out.
and were greeted with almost instantaneous roars of outrage (it was quite funny)

like in a time of crisis, people forget their differences to help each other,
those who shared the same laptop brands shared batteries,
those whose powerpoints still worked offered to let others use it to check the extend of the damage done.

luckily vista finally proved itself superior (at last) with its instantaneous startup of the system like it never switched off.

on a completely unrelated note,
i have found a new source of amusement.

watching communters slam themselves into the station doors
which now open 4 seconds after the nel train doors do.

super funny!
